Yogurt pesto pasta salad

Hey everyone! Ready for another recipe?

 

Today the menu is again something fresh for the hot days. I usually try to plan ahead these recipes but today I felt like eating a pasta salad. I improvised with the ingredients available in my fridge and the outcome was great.

You will need:

200 grams of cooked pasta – I used fussili

40 grams of green olives

200 grams of cherry tomatoes

3 tablespoons of plain yogurt

1 tablespoon of pesto

1 fresh batch of parsley

serves 2

 

Cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package. While you wait for it, chop the parsley and slice the cherry tomatoes and the olives. When your pasta is cooked, drain and rinse with cold water.

Add the pasta, the olives, and the tomatoes into a large mixing bowl.

Mix the yogurt with the pesto and set aside. If that 1 tablespoon of pesto is not enough, you can absolutely add more.

Add the chopped parsley, but save some for later. Pour the yogurt mixture on top of it and mix it well.

I ended up putting some pine nuts and the rest of the parsley on top of it. If you don’t like parsley, you can leave it out or probably you can use some mint leaves.

There you go. A very easy but flavourful pasta salad. It should take about 20 minutes to make it. I will be back on Saturday with probably another cruise collection review.

Got some new goods

Hey, Guys! How are you doing?

 

Today I am here to show you my new wardrobe pieces for summer. Summer is just around the corner and even here in London, the weather is amazing. A week ago when the warm weather started to kick in, I realised that I don’t have any summer clothes. I didn’t have shorts at all. I usually go home for the summer to visit my family and friends but now my university term is a bit longer. So, I went to look at ASOS and Mr.Porter (this is where I usually do my shopping) to get some stuff. Here’s what I got.

I know that having florals for warm weather is a groundbreaking idea, but yes, I do love florals, and I think this year’s trends very much support having prints, patterns etc. in your wardrobe. I absolutely love this shirt and its material is very interesting. It is made out of rayon and its touch is so unique.

Another floral print piece. These are just some fun tailored shorts. Good for the beach or to the park. Super comfy.

Palm print jersey shorts £18 – ASOS

A pink palm print jersey short. Probably this one is my favourites. Guys, do not be afraid of wearing pink. It is so two thousand whatsoever to say that pink is for girls. Mr.Porter has a whole edit on wearing pink. Go and check it out, I will link it below.

Clearing some air. What’s my blog about?

Hey everyone and happy Saturday!

It has been already a month since I started this site. It’s just crazy how time flies so fast. As my blog reaches out to more and more people, I noticed that I should clear some things around it, because a lot of my distant friends started asking – So what is your blog really about? Is it about fashion, cooking, style advice?

Now the answer is simple. It is about everything. This blog usually covers my daily interests, which are fashion and  cooking. I am studying fashion and since I was little I loved cooking, so I tried to post something about these each week. Of course, my interests don’t stop here, so probably you may see videos of me singing, or city guides, or whatever will pop into my mind in the future.

Yes, fashion is and will be the main theme, but that’s why we are eclectic and having more interests and hobbies just broadens your personality. I hope this answers the questions you might ask when looking at my page.

Quinoa salad with sriracha meatballs

Quinoa salad with sriracha meatballs

Hey everyone! How are you doing?

 

The weather in London is crazy good so I wanted to make a salad. I don’t know about you guys but when the weather is warm, I don’t like to eat heavy stuff. Let’s get started.

You will need:

For the meatballs:

500 grams of minced beef (use turkey if you don’t like beef)

3 tablespoons of sriracha

1 large egg

3  tablespoons of breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon of oregano

a dash of salt and pepper

preheat your oven for 200 degrees (400 if fahrenheit)

 

For the salad:

120 grams of quinoa

100 grams of green beans

150 grams of baby spinach

2 tablespoons of sesame oil

2 tablespoons of lemon juice

2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds

1 teaspoon of soy sauce

serves – 4

 

Cook the quinoa according to the instructions on the package.

Put the meat into a bowl and add the egg, the breadcrumbs, the seasoning, and the sriracha. Mix well and make medium sized meatballs.

You should be able to make 12 meatballs. Place them on a baking tray and put them into the oven. They should be ready in 18 minutes.

Boil the green beans for 3 minutes and set aside. When your quinoa is ready, mix it with the spinach while still warm. Add the green beans and the sesame oil mixture. Add your green beans and the pumpkin seeds and mix well.

When the meatballs are ready serve it with the salad.sriracha 5

Put some extra drops of sriracha if you want to and you are ready to eat. Bon appetit.

What about espadrilles?

What about espadrilles?

Hey everyone! How are you doing?

 

Today I thought I talk about espadrilles. Espadrilles have been around for hundreds of years. They acted as footwear for peasants, and now all the brands out there have them in their Spring/Summer collections. They are usually made of cotton, canvas fabric and their sole is made out of a rope called “esparto”. But are they worth the price?

 

Personally, I love espadrilles. They are comfortable, look good so they are a perfect choice for summer. The only problem you should be concerned about is the sole. If it gets wet, it will start to fall apart. Now the two espadrilles you see on the picture are from Jimmy Choo and YSL. I got them last year around May and I wore them all through last years summer. They were quite pricey but I really wanted to try designer espadrilles compared to fast fashion ones.

 

They certainly look better, but no matter what the price, the sole will be a problem if you do not pay attention. I am planning to get a new pair and I’ve found this Spanish brand called Castañer – https://www.castaner.com/es-es/

They make footwear for men and women as well, and their pricing is not that bad either. Hopefully, they will be worth the price.

My advice to you is that try espadrilles but don’t go for the most expensive ones if it’s your first time. A lot of my  friends complain when they buy a pair of expensive espadrilles and they end up ruined that they are not worth the price. Like I said, you should look after these types of footwear.

The Cruise/Resort Collections

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well and ready for this cruise/resort collection review. As I mentioned last week, I waited for some other cruise/resort collections to happen so that I could write a bit longer post this time. Let’s get down to it.

PRADA

First things first, Prada Resort 2018. The show took place at the Fondazione Prada’s new space that exhibits photography in Milan. When I saw the collection, I said – This does not look like a typical cruise/resort collection that I am used to seeing. This is because a cruise/resort collection is about leisure, with that in mind, you won’t expect to see models walking down the catwalk in activewear. This collection was heavy on modern sportswear, but what I liked is the let’s call it original Prada fabric, the nylon. This sort of gave me some nostalgia when I first saw the iconic nylon bags in a Prada store.  This time, this material was used to create tops and bottoms as well. It is not a usual cruise/resort collection but probably that’s what it’s going to make it memorable.

CHANEL

I am always excited to see what the next theme for a Chanel show is going to be. The official name of this cruise/resort show – that was held at the Grand Palais in Paris – was The Modernity of Antiquity. The setting looked like a remain of an ancient greek temple. The collection featured all sorts of pieces from pants, skirts, jumpsuits, tunics and I could go on and on listing the silhouettes and materials as well. The show featured 85 different looks so there was a lot of processing while I watched it. The ancient greek and mythological references came through but you could still feel the modern vibe as well. Way to go, Chanel, can’t wait to see the next one.

DIOR

Now I was curious what we’re going to see with Dior, because this was the first cruise collection of Maria Grazia Chiuri, the new creative director of the brand, and as I was expecting a lot of people had objections with the collection. Some comments were made that it looks like the Chanel Dallas show or that actually there is nothing Dior about it. Honestly, when a new creative director is appointed, you will see some changes in the designs. You can see it with Balenciaga and Gucci as well, so just give yourself a brake. As a new creative director, you would want to reshape the brand a bit. The theme of the wild west and the native prints actually looked great I think, but we’ll see how Chiuri will do with the upcoming collections.

LOUIS VUITTON

When I found out the show was going to be in Japan, I already knew this is going to be great, because I am a huge fan of Japan as Nicholas Chesquiere is. The show was at the Miho Museum near Kyoto. There were lots of Japanese references like traditional prints, kabuki illustrations, and some samurai heads combined with the iconic LV monogram, leather and leopard prints. This collection is my absolute favourite at the moment. A great work.

Cajun shrimp with roasted baby carrots

Hey guys and happy Wednesday! Are you ready for another recipe?

 

Let’s get into it. This recipe was inspired by the time that I spent in the Florida Keys. When I was there, I consumed huge amounts of shrimp and other seafood. Before I left, I made sure to stock up with the cajun seasoning they use. Don’t worry, I have seen more and more stores have it in Europe as well, so make sure you check it out when you do your shopping next time.

You will need:

200 grams of shrimp

300 grams of baby carrots

1 clove of garlic

1 red chili pepper (optional if you want to add some heat)

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

2 tablespoons of olive oil

2 teaspoons of soy sauce

2 teaspoons of the cajun seasoning mixture

a dash of salt and pepper

preheat your oven to 200 celsius – 400 if fahrenheit

serves: 1-2

First things first, spread out one tablespoon of oil on a baking tray evenly. Put the carrots on it and sprinkle some salt and pepper on it. Put it in the oven and cook for 15 minutes. Make sure you rotate them halfway through.

Mince the garlic and cut the chili pepper and add it to the shrimp. Add the other tablespoon of the oil and the soy sauce, the cajun seasoning, and the lemon juice. Mix well and you are good to go. You can leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours if you want to. Heat up a pan and add the shrimp. Be careful, because it is very easy to overcook them. It should be ready in 2-3 minutes.

When everything is ready, you are done. Serve it with the carrots and some pita bread or toast.
